About Us

Founded with a heart for the Christian community, KD Formation Group was established to provide the leadership development and church health consulting needed for modern discipleship. We believe that every leader is a vessel of transformation, and our mission is to equip them to lead with wisdom and compassion.

Allen Kleine Deters B.R.E, MDiv, brings more than four decades of ministry and leadership experience to his work with churches and organizations.

His experience includes senior pastoral leadership, church planting, congregational leadership, discipleship development, small groups, leadership coaching, spiritual formation, pastoral care, Healing Care and Formational Prayer, volunteer development, organizational leadership, teaching, training, and mentoring.

Allen is also the host and producer of Hope for the Agora, a podcast exploring the intersection of faith and mental health.

Throughout his ministry, one theme has remained constant:

Helping people grow.

Whether working with an individual leader, a staff team, a congregation, or an organization, Allen brings a pastoral heart, an organizational mind, a sense of humour, and a conviction that healthy transformation begins from the inside out.

KD Formation Group grew from that conviction.

Experience Matters.  SO Does Listening

A Team Approach

Alongside Allen is his wife, Karen Kleine Deters, whose professional and ministry experience brings another important dimension to the work of KD Formation Group.

Karen is a retired Registered Nurse with 35 years of experience in nursing, including roles as a resource nurse, educator, mentor, coach, and change-management leader. She holds a BSN, Bachelor of Science in Nursing (Honours) from Grand Canyon University.

Karen is also trained in Formational Prayer, Healing Care, and Spiritual Formation, bringing together her clinical experience, relational wisdom, and deep understanding of how people grow and change. Her background in healthcare has given her a particular appreciation for the whole person—mind, body, spirit, relationships, and environment—and for the importance of walking with people through seasons of change.

As a CAP Money coach and trainer, Karen also brings practical expertise in helping individuals and families develop healthier approaches to financial stewardship and decision-making.

Karen is committed to offering a safe place, investing in people, and positioning them to encounter Jesus. She believes that through formational prayer Jesus provides healing and wholeness in people's lives.

Together, Allen and Karen bring a unique blend of pastoral leadership, healthcare experience, spiritual formation, organizational development, coaching, mentoring, and change management. Their combined experience allows KD Formation Group to approach transformation not simply as a matter of strategy or structure, but as a deeply human and spiritual process.

Our Mission

Helping Kingdom Disciples Live On Mission

Our Values

We are dedicated to forming leaders, strengthening churches, and transforming lives through holistic formation and biblical principles.

People Before Programs

Systems exist to serve people—not the other way around.

Formation Before Performance

Sustainable leadership flows from who we are becoming, not simply what we can accomplish.

Truth With Grace

Healthy organizations need places where difficult realities can be named honestly and addressed constructively.

Health Before Growth

Growth without health eventually creates bigger problems.

Courageous Conversations

What organizations avoid often determines what organizations become.

Practical Wisdom

Good ideas matter. Implementable ideas matter more.

Faithful Stewardship

We approach leadership as a responsibility to steward people, opportunities, resources, and influence well.

CHURCH CONSULTING

Helping Churches Become Healthy Disciple-Making Communities

Church leadership is increasingly complex.

Pastors are expected to be theologians, communicators, counsellors, strategists, organizational leaders, culture builders, conflict mediators, fundraisers, visionaries—and somehow still have time to prepare Sunday’s sermon.

That’s a fairly ambitious job description.

Often an experienced outside perspective can help.

KD Formation Group works alongside pastors, boards, elders, staff teams, and ministry leaders to help churches understand where they are, clarify where God may be leading them, and develop practical strategies for moving forward.

We help churches address areas such as:

  • Church health

  • Organizational structure

  • Leadership culture

  • Discipleship

  • Staff alignment

  • Small groups

  • Volunteer engagement

  • Congregational care

  • Governance

  • Vision and strategy

  • Church revitalization

  • Leadership transitions

  • Conflict

  • Growth and organizational change

We don’t arrive with a predetermined formula.

We listen first.

Because every congregation has a history, culture, calling, community, strengths, wounds, opportunities, and challenges that need to be understood before solutions are prescribed.

Listen deeply.  Discern wisely.  Lead courageously.

ORGANIZATIONAL CONSULTING

Values-Based Leadership for Organizations That Want to Flourish

KD Formation Group also works with nonprofits, businesses, and values-driven organizations seeking healthier leadership and organizational cultures.

While our worldview is shaped by Christian faith, our organizational work is practical, respectful, and accessible to people from a wide variety of backgrounds.

We help organizations strengthen:

  • Leadership effectiveness

  • Organizational culture

  • Team health

  • Communication

  • Strategic clarity

  • Conflict resolution

  • Change management

  • Staff engagement

  • Mission and values alignment

  • Leadership development

Our conviction is that people are not simply resources to be managed.

They are human beings to be valued, developed, challenged, and given the opportunity to flourish.

When people flourish, organizations become stronger.

Sometimes Leaders Need a Place to Think Out Loud

Leadership can be surprisingly lonely.

The more responsibility a leader carries, the fewer places there are where they can speak openly about uncertainty, conflict, frustration, calling, transition, and difficult decisions.

KD Formation Group provides confidential coaching for pastors, ministry leaders, executives, and organizational leaders.

Coaching creates space to:

  • Clarify decisions

  • Navigate difficult relationships

  • Develop leadership skills

  • Identify blind spots

  • Process organizational challenges

  • Establish healthier rhythms

  • Lead through transition

  • Strengthen emotional and spiritual health

  • Clarify calling and direction

For Christian leaders, coaching can intentionally incorporate prayer, spiritual discernment, Scripture, and attention to the leader’s relationship with God.

You don’t have to lead alone.
